Project Sidewalk is a Leadership Fort Wayne initiative, in partnership with the City, WindSwell Foundation, and AARP, to complete walk and mobility audits in the Beacon Woods, East Central, and Memorial Park Neighborhoods. The project, which will be led by volunteers, aims to understand the existing sidewalk, crosswalk, and connectivity patterns in each of the three neighborhoods listed above, and to identify where future improvements could be made to improve mobility throughout the community for all residents, regardless of ability.

The three neighborhoods, Beacon Woods, East Central, and Memorial Park, have all been identified as the top two Census Tracts in Allen County with the highest reported rates of residents with a disability. The goal is to, in partnership with residents, identify areas within these three neighborhoods where future improvements could make Fort Wayne more accessible.
