Project Description

Please join us for this FREE event featuring keynote speaker, Brian Goldstone, author of There is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America, named one of The New York Times’ 10 Best Books of 2025 and a finalist for the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction. In this gripping, high-stakes account of America’s housing emergency, Goldstone exposes the growing crisis of the “working homeless” through the unforgettable stories of five Atlanta families striving to remain housed while working full-time jobs. As housing costs soar and wages lag behind, families are forced to sleep in cars and extended-stay motels, revealing a stark truth: in today’s America, full-time work is no guarantee of stable housing. Goldstone’s reporting has appeared in The New York Times, Harper’s Magazine, The New Republic, and The California Sunday Magazine. He holds a PhD from Duke University and has held fellowships at Columbia University and New America.
