Project Description

The Bluffton Road bridge project consists of the superstructure replacement due to a load limit rating of 12 tons. The project consists of concrete support beam replacement and a new bridge deck with wide separated paths for pedestrians and bicyclists on both North and South sides of the bridge. The project also includes new decorative lighting, overlook nodes, and an improved intersection of Broadway and Bluffton. This is a federally funded project.

Construction is expected to begin either in late 2024 or early 2025.

Public Meeting

The City of Fort Wayne invites the public to a public open house to view plans for the Bluffton Road Bridge Project.

The meeting will be held in the Sears Pavilion at 1701 Bluffton Road.

During the meeting, a team from the City of Fort Wayne will share renderings, the plan for keeping the bridge partially open during construction, and the tentative timeline. This is a time for questions from the public.

  • PAY ATTENTION

    AVOID DISTRACTIONS!

    Be aware of all signage and reduced speeds. Avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating/drinking, and radio.

  • BARRICADES

    DO NOT MOVE BARRICADES!

    The contractor will move them once pavement passes testing and can withstand vehicle weights.

  • WORKER SAFETY

    BE PREPARED TO STOP!

    Slow down and give workers extra room. Drive cautiously through the jobsite especially If workers are on site.
