recently completed project, which includes new, state-of-the-art playground equipment welcomes residents and guests to Lawton Park’s Kids’ Crossing. Located in the Spy Run Neighborhood just north of downtown, and a short distance from Science Central, Kids’ Crossing provides ample opportunity for both active and passive recreation. Nestled within the shaded confines of Kids’ Crossing is three separate play areas with a centralized open-air pavilion. The playground offers public restrooms and a drinking fountain.
The new playground at Kids’ Crossing is a national demonstration site for advancing recreation through researched-based best practices as developed by Playcore, the equipment manufacturer. The renovated playground provides a variety of activities including: Climbing, sliding, swinging, and a range of balance activities, as well as opportunities for rocking and spinning. Its thoughtful design will integrate with the park’s existing amenities such as the pavilion, picnic shelters, ballfields, and open recreational space. Ample seating opportunities are located throughout Kids’ Crossing for parents and caregivers to relax, observe or supervise their children’s play.
