Project Description

Located at the intersection of McKinnie Avenue and South Anthony Boulevard in the Rudisill Plaza and Anthony Wayne Neighborhoods is Fort Wayne's newest park space.

With the input of several hundred residents in the Southeast Strategy Planning Process, this unique space has designed and built the excess right-of-way space from McKinnie Avenue into a programmable plaza featuring a bandshell and space for outdoor activities. The plaza also features oversized swings, access for food trucks, a pop-up vendor space, an outdoor dining area and shade sails to help protect visitors from the weather.

Grand Opening

Unity Lighting

A part of the design includes a custom Unity light display during the holiday season to continue to provide a sense of unity and togetherness to represent the community. The first Unity Lighting was hosted with the Greater Fort Wayne National Pan-Hellenic Council, and served hot chocolate, along with a hat and glove giveaway to children while supplies lasted.

I would love to see a fenced-in SHADED area for kids to play. Maybe a nature garden?

A indoor community center would be awesome. Even a creator space would be nice with high speed internet and a lounge type setting.

I would M love to see a play cafe added there. (EverPlay cafe in Grand Rapids, MI). Maybe even hourly child-watch for SS residents only.
