Project Description

The historic Mechanic Street Bridge connecting the Nebraska Neighborhood to Swinney Park was constructed as a Pratt truss pedestrian bridge in 1898 and was in need of rehabilitation as it has been unpassable for the past few years. This project will allow the Parks and Recreation Department to ensure the Mechanic Street Bridge is completely functional, and includes rehab or replacement of multiple lower chord pins, low chord eyebars, partial replacement of floor stringers, decorative portal replacement, rivet installation, new decking, mudwall extensions, railing reconstruction, cleaning and painting, tree removal, and mitigation plantings.
