Project Description

Neighborhood Cleanup Program

The free City Neighborhood Cleanup Program runs March through November each year. Neighborhood associations may request a 40-yard roll-off container or a rear-load garbage truck for neighborhood residents to use for cleaning up vacant lots, common areas, and clutter from their homes. Neighborhood Associations who are interested in participating should contact Solid Waste to reserve a roll-off container on a Saturday that you schedule. The container will be dropped off before 8:00 a.m. and removed between noon and 2:00 p.m. that same day. If the neighborhood wants to utilize a rear-load garbage truck to travel through the neighborhood, Solid Waste will provide the truck and driver, but the neighborhood must supply volunteers to walk behind the truck to help load debris. This program is provided free of charge.

Televisions, Tires and Electronics

On one Saturday each month, from April to October, neighborhoods may register to bring discarded tires, televisions, and other electronics they find in their neighborhood to the designated location. The neighborhood association receives:

  • $1 per television
  • $0.75 cents for each tire

Tires and televisions are banned from the landfill, and many of these items accumulate in alleys and vacant lots.
