Project Description

The Northeast Trail is an extension of the Maplecrest Road Trail, which currently stretches from Stellhorn Road to the Rivergreenway – Maumee Pathway. Phase 1 is anticipated to be constructed in 2026 from the YMCA to an existing sidewalk north of Bridlewood Drive on the west side of Maplecrest Road.

The 1.27-mile trail project will also include a 0.1-mile-long sidewalk connection on Evard Road to Brookside Church. The church has graciously agreed to donate the right of way for the trail / sidewalk and will allow the use of its parking lot as a trailhead.

The design is 95% complete. Appraising and land acquisition of 25 parcels will begin in the summer of 2025. Phase 2 of the trail (possible construction in 2027) will connect the YMCA to the Stellhorn Road Trail (to be constructed in 2026 between Eicher Drive and Northwood Plaza). This Stellhorn Road Trail will connect to the Maplecrest Road Trail, which links to the Rivergreenway - Maumee Pathway.
