Project Description

The North River District: there's something for everyone.

The North River Fieldhouse and Mixed-Used District will fuel economic growth while building connections and community pride. The signature Fieldhouse, featuring modern, accessible, world-class facilities, will lead the way in adaptive sports and sports tourism, bringing visitors and their spending power to Fort Wayne.

The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Department recently announced the selection of PB Development, an affiliate of Price Brothers, as the master developer for the site. Throughout 2026, Price Brothers will meet with neighborhood, business and community leaders to design the district's housing, retail, entertainment, sporting and restaurant options.

The Fieldhouse is one catalyst for the site. A recent feasibility study by Victus Advisors confirms its potential, projecting strong demand and significant economic impacts.

How we got here

Beginning in 1902, the North River site was home to several industries, including a rail yard and scrap yard. By 2006, the site was no longer actively being used and sat blighted on the main gateway into Fort Wayne from the north.

The City of Fort Wayne purchased the property in 2017 and began applying for grants to remediate the property so it could be revitalized.

In February of 2025 the City’s Redevelopment Department issued a request for qualifications from development teams interested in developing the North River Fieldhouse and Mixed-Use District.

Sports & Event Center Feasibility Study

On March 19, 2025, Mayor Sharon Tucker invited area business leaders and representatives of sports organizations to hear from Victus Advisors, the consulting firm that prepared the Fort Wayne Sports & Event Center Study, which helped City of Fort Wayne leaders with the decision to pursue redevelopment of the North River site for youth and adaptive sports and more.
