Project Description

The Poka-Bache Connector will be an 82-mile-long trail from Pokagon State Park in Angola to Ouabache State Park in Bluffton when completed. This 2.1- mile phase in Fort Wayne consists of a 10-foot-wide asphalt trail on the east side of Bluffton Road from Ferguson Road to Lower Huntington Road. The project will include a trailhead and rest area near the gas station at Bluffton and Ferguson. Trail will be designed incorporating context sensitive design principles and will include stormwater drainage design. It will also include a park bench approximately every half mile, a prefabricated pedestrian bridge designed at the Harber Ditch, traffic signal upgrades including accessible pedestrian signals, crosswalk improvements, ADA improvements, a pedestrian refuge island enhancement at Airport Expressway and connections to existing bike/pedestrian facilities.
