Project Description

The City of Fort Wayne's Community Development Division has completed the estimated $5.2 Million Pontiac Street Corridor Streetscape Project. The project was outlined as a priority in the Southeast Strategy as a key initiative in both the Renaissance Pointe and Oxford neighborhoods.

The project reconstructed Pontiac Street to be more pedestrian-friendly, enhancing access to businesses, and encouraging reinvestment throughout. Some of the project highlights include:

  • Integrated traffic-calming strategies to manage traffic speed and increase pedestrian and bicycle safety.
  • Enhanced streetscape with the addition of trees, planter beds, and green infrastructure.
  • Upgraded sidewalk accessibility to complete with ADA standards, improving overall connectivity and accessibility.
  • Improved lighting and updated traffic lights with push buttons.
  • Updated stormwater drainage to facilitate changes in the street design.
  • Reconstruction of deteriorated driveway approaches.
