Project Description

The West Cook Road project will cover Huguenard Rd to 800 feet west of Lima Road and will enhance pedestrian safety by adding a signalized pedestrian crossing with ADA compliant ramps and new connecting 5' wide sidewalk segments (1,200 feet) on the south side of Cook Road.

Additionally, the project will improve vehicle traffic by replacing deteriorated concrete pavement, milling the existing surface, and applying a watertight road fabric beneath 3.5 inches total of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) poured in three layers.

Also included will be updated traffic striping to further optimize traffic flow and safety, as well as new curbs and a new lane configuration at the intersection of Cook Rd & Innovation Blvd.

What to expect during construction:

  • Expect traffic delays due to the possible temporary closure during construction processes.
  • Cook Road will become ONE-WAY accompanying a detour route in the other direction. The one-way will switch directions east to west vice-versa multiple times throughout the construction process.
  • Driveways may be inaccessible on the side of the street that is being worked on. Depending on the weather, this can range from 3 weeks or more.
  • Drive slowly and cautiously through the job site, especially when the contractor is on site working.
  • Do not drive on newly poured concrete until such time that the contractor has removed restricted access items (caution tape, barricades or barrels) as doing so will weaken the concrete potentially damaging it. It will be the homeowner's responsibility to repair damage to the drive approach if driven on early.
  • It will be loud, dirty and dusty.
  • Once the topsoil, grass seed and mulch are applied it will be the homeowner's responsibility to water the restoration areas to ensure proper, adequate grass growth. See the Document Library for tips on successful new grass.

Before Construction

  • PAY ATTENTION

    AVOID DISTRACTIONS!

Be aware of all signage and reduced speeds. Avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating/drinking, and radio.

  • BARRICADES

    DO NOT MOVE BARRICADES!

The contractor will move them once pavement passes testing and can withstand vehicle weights.

  • WORKER SAFETY

    BE PREPARED TO STOP!

Slow down and give workers extra room. Drive cautiously through the jobsite especially If workers are on site.
