Project Description

This trail is under construction. The asphalt trail will be 0.76 miles long and will run along the west side of Wheelock Road from Jefferson Middle School to Stellhorn Road and then along the north side of Stellhorn Road heading west past the church. The project will include a pedestrian bridge over the Bullerman Drain. This trail will also connect to the existing Wheelock Road Trail at Jefferson Middle School and the existing Stellhorn Road Trail. As of 7/1/25,Fleming Excavating has cut most of the trail and installed the compacted stone subbase on part of the trail. The pedestrian bridge was set in late June. Work continues on the bridge and foundation. Final completion date is 12/5/25.

Mid-Block Crossings

As of February 2025, the Greater Fort Wayne Area Trails Network consists of 153 miles of trails, with 107 miles inside City limits. Most of the trails in City limits are planned, designed, constructed, and maintained by the City of Fort Wayne under the leadership of Mayor Sharon Tucker.
