Project Description
The playground is located within Hanna Homestead Park at the intersection of Lewis and Gay Streets, southeast of Downtown Fort Wayne. The park currently features a walking trail, picnic shelter, restrooms, a basketball court, and open play space.
The updated playground will include new play equipment with synthetic turf safety surfacing. Designed to keep children active and engaged, the playground will offer a wide variety of activities such as climbing, sliding, balancing, and spinning. Opportunities for imaginative play are incorporated throughout, allowing children to enjoy playtime with friends or independently.
The playground will feature a combination play structure for ages 2–5 and another for ages 5–12, along with additional play elements that provide hours of fun. The new inclusive equipment is designed to support the physical, social, and emotional development of children ages 2–12 and is accessible for children of all abilities, ensuring everyone can play and learn together. Ample seating will be available for parents and caregivers to comfortably supervise play.
