The playground is situated within Lafayette Park and the Lafayette Park Neighborhood Association. Access to the park is provided by newly constructed city sidewalks, with on-street parking available along E. Sherwood Terrace and Glencoe Avenue. Existing park amenities include an open-air pavilion, restrooms, tennis and basketball courts, a drinking fountain, shaded seating areas, and a new playground scheduled for completion in 2026.

The playground revitalization will feature entirely new equipment and synthetic turf safety surfacing, bordered by a concrete edge to contain the surfacing material. Designed for children ages 2–12, the playground will offer a wide variety of engaging activities, including climbing, sliding, balancing, and spinning elements. Opportunities for imaginative play are integrated throughout, allowing children to enjoy both group and independent play experiences.

The new inclusive equipment is thoughtfully designed to support the physical, social, and emotional development of children of all abilities, ensuring every child has the opportunity to play and learn. Ample shaded seating will be available for parents and caregivers to comfortably supervise.

In addition to the playground improvements, new sidewalks will connect the park’s pavilion, playground, and courts to the City’s right-of-way sidewalks, enhancing overall accessibility and ensuring the park is ADA compliant.
